what would you do...

... if you had ordered fabric thru your lns, spent a chunk of $ to do so, and 6 months later it's still not in? i know they're having trouble getting it and so forth, but this long? Im still waiting on my fabric for Swan Lake and several Mirabilias. But none of it's here yet and I wonder if I'll even get to start before the class runs out! So what would you do?

Hmmm, that's a tuffie. Honestly, I would talk to the LNS one more time. As about the status of your order. Then, if they still know nothing, I would ask for my money back and order it from somewhere else. 6 months is a long time to wait for some fabric. :/

Six months is extreme. I'd call them (or better yet, go into the store) and ask them why there's a delay. If they can't answer or give excuses, get a refund and purchase it elsewhere. There's really no reason for that long of a delay and no working with you to find an alternative.

I'm with Rachel and Measi. I'd give it one more shot and then I'd get it somewhere else. That really is a looooong time to wait. Esp. when there's stitchin' to be done. :)

I fourth the suggestion. As you said, there seems to be a major issue with base fabrics right now, but 6 months is really too long. Once I got the refund, I'd find a substitute, just in case everyone has a wait list that long.

I'd have been in there after 3 months wanting a refund! Especially as you need it for an online class.
If it's a little independent LNS I'd settle for a refund but if it was a big chain then I'd wanted compensation as well, even just a £5 gift voucher to spend on something they do have.

File a dispute with your bank/credit card company/paypal to get your money back then order your fabric from a different distributer/manufacturer.

I have had problems with Silkweaver and so have many many others, if that is who you are waiting on, get your money back asap.

So far, I have had positive results from Polstitches and Sunny dyes fabrics (also Sunny Dyes is having a 25% off sale from Oct.30 - Nov. 1st).

It seems like most of these dyers do run out of the fabric at times and has to wait for new fabric orders to come in from the fabric manufacturers but it shouldn't be any longer than 3 or 4 weeks.

Good luck!

Ditto what everyone else said. Definitely call them to see what the hold up is. 6 months is way too long to wait, IMO.

I'm with everyone else... ASk them for an update and if they don't have anything new to tel you... ask for a refund... 6 months is way too long for a LNS to get a fabric especially if the client has paid for it already :S
